Battery-operated toys: batteries, the Rs 150 add-on & safety
Which toys need batteries, what “batteries not included” means, the Rs 150 Toshiba add-on, and battery safety for kids.
Many of our most-loved toys — dancing cactus, flipping rabbit, piano play gyms — run on batteries. Here is everything a parent needs to know before the toy arrives.
Which toys need batteries?
Check the product page under “Product Specifications” and the “Battery” row. You will see one of:
- AA batteries (most common — e.g. plush musical toys, play gyms)
- AAA batteries (smaller remotes and light-up toys)
- Coin cells (tiny button batteries in small light-up or sound toys)
The page also lists how many are needed.
What “batteries not included” means
It means exactly that: the toy ships without batteries in the box. You will need to buy them separately — otherwise the toy will sit silent on day one.
The Rs 150 Toshiba add-on
To save you a separate trip to the market, battery-operated products show a suggested add-on at checkout: Toshiba Super Heavy Duty AA batteries for Rs 150. One tap adds them to your order so the toy works the moment it arrives.
Buying a musical plush or play gym? Add the Rs 150 battery add-on at checkout — it is the cheapest way to make sure playtime starts immediately.
Inserting and replacing batteries
- Find the battery compartment (usually on the back or underside, closed with a small screw).
- Match + and − exactly as marked inside.
- Use all new batteries of the same type — never mix old and new, or different brands.
- Close the compartment fully before giving the toy to your child.
When the toy slows down, plays quietly or stops responding, the batteries are simply drained — replace them before assuming the toy is broken.
Battery safety
Coin-cell (button) batteries are extremely dangerous if swallowed — they can cause serious internal injury within hours. Keep them, and any toy with a loose coin-cell compartment, away from children under 3. If you suspect a child swallowed one, seek emergency medical help immediately.
- Store spare batteries out of children's reach.
- Remove batteries from a toy that will not be used for a long time (they can leak).
- Dispose of used batteries responsibly — do not throw them in household fire or let children play with them.
Q: Do the toys come with batteries?
No — battery-operated toys ship without batteries unless the product page says otherwise. Add the Rs 150 Toshiba AA add-on at checkout, or buy AA/AAA/coin cells separately as listed under “Product Specifications”.
Q: My toy stopped working after a week. Is it defective?
Probably just drained batteries. Replace all batteries with fresh ones of the same type first. If it still does not work, start a return at nanhesitare.com/apps/outseen/return within 7 days of delivery.
Q: Can I use rechargeable batteries?
Yes, standard rechargeable AA/AAA batteries work in most toys. Recharge them outside the toy and never mix rechargeable with disposable batteries.
